How to Apply for a Subclass 173 Visa

 

Step 1:

You must apply for the Subclass 173 visa using a paper application, whether you are inside or outside Australia. The application requires completing all necessary forms and submitting the following documents:

• Identity Documents: Such as your passport, national ID card, or other official identification.

• Sponsorship Documents: Your sponsor must first apply to sponsor you before you submit your visa application.

• Balance of Family Documents: To meet the Balance of Family test, you need to provide (1) proof of your relationship with your child, and (2) evidence showing the country of permanent residence of all your children.

• Character Documents: Police clearance certificates from every country where you have lived for 12 months or more.

Capping and Queueing of Parent Visa Applications – Explained

All Parent visa categories are subject to capping and queueing, including the following:

• Parent visa (subclass 103)

• Aged Parent visa (subclass 804)

• Contributory Parent visas (subclasses 143 and 173)

• Contributory Aged Parent visas (subclasses 864 and 884)

What This Means:

• Capping refers to the limit on the number of visas that can be granted each migration program year (which runs from 1 July to 30 June).
